New season next week
The Federal District
Women's Bowling Associ
ation's 1982-83 season begins
on Tuesday with seven clubs
in grade one.
There are eight in both grades
two and three and 10 in grade
four.
Entries for the district singles
and pairs close on September 17.
? Canberra West has elected its

social game last week to welcome
the new season with 12 ends
played. Scores for only the sec
ond, fourth, sixth, eighth, 10th
and 12th ends were counted.
Winners were Dot Taunton,
Helen Barlow and May Faull.
Norma Walsh won the ditch
competition.
Fours championship play is
scheduled for tomorrow week.
? Thirty-five Woden Valley
bowlers will visit sister club Glen
brook on September 11 and the
club will be host to Concord RSL
on October 16 and 17.
The annual meeting will be
held on September 19 and Presi
dent's Day on October 23. Nomi
nations for committee positions
close on September 5.
Entries are being accepted for
the open pairs tournament which
will be played on the October
long weekend.
? Canberra women's club begins
its drawn fours on Saturday and
its drawn triples on Sunday.
? Canberra South will hold its
fours championship final on Sat
urday between George Bayin,
Perc Luton, Ian Stewrat and Jock
Rooney and Leon Gerathy, Tom
Bailey, Vic Duncan and Milton
Woodley.
.The fact that the final is on
Saturday is largely due to a good
start last weekend.
Outstanding club bowlers Ron
Hadley and Austin Mead failed
to make the finals in the fours.
Saturday week is Toohey's Day
and the first round of club triples
will be played on Sunday week.
