DEPUTATIONS.
A deputation representing resi
dents of the district were present
at the meeting of the Bland Shire
Council last week. Representa
tions were made relative to the
conditions of the roads which
have deteriorated badly during
the recent wet weather. The de
putation was very favorably re
ceived and indications are that
extensive repairs and road works
are to be carried out in the imme
diate future.
The Weddin Shire Council also
received a deputation from Quan
dialla and District Progress Asso
ciation. The deputation pointed
out the disgraceful condition of
the Morangorell and Caragabal
roads in close proximity to Quan
dialla, and the daily occurrence of
bogged vehicles on both roads.
The deputation was informed
that the council was making ap
plication for a grant for road re
pairs throughout the Shire, and
if the council's request was fa
vorably received these roads would
then be attended to.
? Furthermore, that if the local
residents would provide a tractor
and wheel scoop and drain the bad
bog holes on the road the council
would arrange to have these holes
filled in.
Th» deputation has informed
the Progress Association that it is
apparent that unless local resi
dents get busy and fix the roads
up themselves they can stay at
home and wait a considerable
time before they can travel to and
from Quandialla.
