MELBOURNE, Monday. — The chairman
of the Australian Wheat Board, Mr. C. J. Perrett,
said tonight negotiations had been concluded for
the sale to mainland China of four million bushels
of Australian wheat.
This would be premium
semi-hard wheat from nor-
thern N.S.W., Mr. Perrett
said.
It would bring Australia's
sale of wheat to Mainland
China to 50 million bushels
this year.
In May, Wheat Board offi-
cials and a trade team from
China agreed to the sale of
50 million bushels on a cre-
dit basis during negotiations
in Hong Kong.
Delivery date for the sale
would be September-October.
"I am hopeful that there
will be further large wheat
sales to Communist China,"
Mr. Perrett said.
Australia must compete.
with other nations selling
wheat on that market and
there was no indication whe-
ther similar quantities would
be bought next year, he add-
ed.
