UNITED EVANGELISTIC
MISSION
largely, Attended Final Meetings
at Renmark
The two closing meetings of the
Evangelization Society's United Mis
sion in ftenmark -were inspiring and
powerful ones, and seven young men
and woineh decided to live the Chris
tian life.
Evangelist's Life Story
In the Congregational Church on
tion gathered to hear the evangelist
Saturday night' a splendid congrega
(the/Bev* <J. R. Brown) tell the story
of his life. Mr. Brown had a great
message to tell. He told his hearers
of his early boyhood days, and paid a
graceful tribute to his mother, whom
he :discribed as being-"one of the best
tittle. mothers in the world'.. Mr
Brown then told of his shearing days
when he wandered far and wide". He
stated that there was a period in his
life when he was opposed' to religion
and for many years never entered'a
church. During that period he des
cribed himself as being a "rational
ist." Then came the story of his
conversion when he saw - the empti
ness of his life, and discovered the
tremendous mistake he had made in
turning the deaf ear to the call of
Christ. Mr. Brown concluded his
story by telling of his call to the
Christian ministry. He then made a
strong appeal to all present to yield
their lives to Christ.
Sunday ' Night's Meeting
About -250 people attended the final
meeting in the Renmark Institute on
Sunday night. Mrs. G. R. "Brown
presided at the piano. The Rev. G.
R. Brown was' assisted yb the Revs."
A. 1. Brown, C. A. Hawke of the
methodist i and Congregational
churches, Mr. Strathie ot the Presty- .
terian church and Adjutant Daddcfw
of the Salvation Army.
The evangelist spoke of the great ap
peal of Christ, "Will ye also go 8
way " After dealing briefly with the
context, Mr. Brown told hiis hearers
why people went away from Christ.
Many men and vyomen suffered from
a mild .form of cowardice. They
were afraid' of the > foolish jests of
their friends., Other people lacked
vision, j "They preferred1 to live a
life of din and aimless wandering
when Christ called them to a life of
goodness and high endeavour. Mr.
so many people went away from Christ
Brown said that the chief reason why
was that men and women were caught
in the grip of "the world, the flesh,
and the devil." . They were "lovers
of pleasure more than lovers of God."
.When a man or woman went away
from Christ there was something in
their lives which could not stand the.
searchlight of His truth. Mi*. Brown
concluded his remarks by malting a
powerful and effective appeal to live
the best and highest life.
