21st BIRTHDAY
On Saturday last a party was held
at her parents residence to celebrate
the coming of age of Miss Jean
Popplewell. Miss Popplewell is the
President of the Kiama C.W.A.
Younger Set, and there were about
40 of her friends and relatives pres-
ent. The evening passed pleasantly
with games and dancing for which
Mr. L. Allan acted ac M.C.
After a very nice supper had been
partaken of Mr. R. Henderson pro-
posed the toast of the guest of hon-
our. He had known her all her life
and eulogised her good qualities.
He wished her all the best, in her
future life and congratulated her on
attaining her majority. Mr. L.
Graham and Misses E. Keon and D.
Bower, supported the remarks and
the toast was honoured in the usual
manner. Miss Popplewell suitably
responded, thanking her parents for
holding the party in her honour.
Mr. Keith Jarratt' proposed the
toast of the guest of honour's parents
Mr. and Mrs. S. Popplewell, thank
ing them for the invitation to be
present.
Mr Popplewell thanked them for
the way in which the toast was hon-
oured and presented his daughter
with the traditional keyof the door.
A beautifully decorated cake, made
by Mrs. Popplewell and decorated
with good luck horse-shoes, was cut
and distributed by Miss Popplewell.
.She was the recipient of many nice
presents. including cheques, the fam-
ily presenting her with a wristlet
watch.
