WINGEOARRIBBEE.
(Fromi our correspondcnto /
ON Sunday last the Lord blahop of Sydney hold
confirmation sorvioo for this parish in the English
Church, Borrlmn. The prayers wore road by the Rev.
G, Middloton ; and after a short introduotory address
on the rite of conflrmation, it was administeored to
nearly forty candidatos, after which the bishop
proaobhod an oceolleont sermon from let Poter, 2nd
chaptor, 21st verso, " Leaving us an example." The
oburoh was quite full, and a collection on behalf of
the church society was made at the close of the
eorvice.,
On Monday night the Roev. Thomas Smith of St.
Barnabas' Church, Sydney, dolivorod a highly
interesting lecture in the public school, Bowrall,
Owing to the unpropitlious weather tha attondanoe
was scanty, and the proceeode, whioh are to be devoted
to the oreotion of a churoch in Bowrall, not very
largo. On Tuesday night the rev. gentleman viasited
iurrawang for the purpose of leoturing for the same
objeot. The weather however provented that object
from being carried out, and the looturor promised to
visit this part again early in the now yoar when no
doubt the audience will be overflowing.
Several rather severo aooidents have happened
lately. A child of Mr. E. Boyle of Robertson euan
coodod in eating a great number of matchos-so
many that Dr. Tarrant says the excess only
saved the life of the child. It is now doing well.
A younger child of'the samo person the next wooeek
displayed a lite mania for suicidle by pulling a vessel
of boiling tea over the lower part of Its body and
legs.. Again Dr. Tarrant's aid was sought, and
though for some days fears wore entertained of its
life, it is now on route for roeovery. On Saturday
Iaet a child of Iri. Jno. Wilson of Durrawang fell
and broke her arm. Dr. Williamson reduced the
fraeture.
The weather is almost breaking the hearts of the
farmers. Wet, wet, nothing but wet; day after day
soareoly a gloam of sen. The gransesoad Is ripo, and
a groat deal of it lost on account of the rain. Potato*
planting is going on as fast an the weather will pur
mlt. The wheat looks eplondid-hardly a partiloe
of rust; but a groat quantity is lying down with the
rain.
Those poste, oeterpillars and.grasshoppers, are
here in myriad,; and the growing cropes are begin.
ning to suffer from their ravages.
Unless we soon have some fine weather thero will
be very few running fires this year.
All vegetatioi Is vory'luxuriant, grass ospeolally
abusndant.',
Colds ate of courso very prevalent; otherwise the
sanitary condition is satlefactory,
December 12th.
