The Courier ofthat do\o says : -The apprehensions
we expressed last woek onWoouut of tho heavy rains
which havo fallon with lisio intermission for more
than twenty days, wero realised on Sunday, Monday;
and Tuesday, whon tho Brisbane Uiver was flooded to
a great height. On Monday tho flood reached its
maximum, which was far above, tho lovel recorded any
time sinco the Moreton Bay district was settled. AH
tho wharves of tho city and tho adjaoont Btoroi were
swept, and, spito of the precautions of our merchants
and,waroliousomon, a groat quantity of valuable pro-
perty was destroyed or seriously injured. It is im

informed, that tho farmers of Oxloy Creek aro almost
ruined. On Tuesday, tho water enbsidod rapidly,
and next day the flood was gone. . The wcathor has
not, however, yet cleared up. Business has boen
seriously interfered with during tho week, owing to
this disastrous visitation.
Sheep by thousands have boen destroyed. Intolti
gonce has boen rccoivod that 90,000 shoop havo been'
destroyed on tho Yandilla Station, 80,000 on Warra,
20,000 on Ellangowan, besides smeller losses sus-
tained by almoBt ovcry>squattor on tho Downe. .
Bridges havo boon swapt away on most of tho roads,
and Gatton Bridgo, ono of tho flnost'struóturcs of tlio
kind in the oolony, and whioh test £3000, is a com-
plete wreck. Tho township \f Boma, Maranoa

to be known hore, Tho losses sustained by tho
pastoral interests are almost inoaloulablo.
Flour is scarce, and serious fears of famine in tho
far west districts are entertained.
