AMUSEMENTS.
"THE LADY OF LYONS."
This evening Mr. J. C. Williamson will
close his successful dramatic season in this
city, and Mr. Julius Knight and Miss
Maud Jeffries will bid adieu to their many
admirers. For their farewell appearance in
Adelaide Mr. Williamson has elected to
stage Bulwer Lyttons famous romance
"The Lady of Lyons." The story of the
escapade of the gardener's son and his marriage
with the naughty beauty of Lyons
has a peculiar 1 fascination for playgoers,
judging by the large audiences it anvariably
draws. Miss Maud Jeffries will, of course,
appear as Pauline, and Mr. Julius Knight
as Claude Melnotte. The stars will be
supported by Mr. G. P. Carey as Col.
Dames, Mr. Frank Stirling as Beaaseant,
Mr. George Chalmers as Mons. Desehapp'elles,
Mr. E. M". Berre=ford as Glav s,
Mr. Norman Jeffries as Capt. Gervias. Mr.
S. Latham as Capt. Dupont, Mr. Percy
Walshe as the landlord. Miss Katie Towers
as Madame Deschappelles, Miss E. Quinn
as Widow Melnotte. ' Mr. Knight will
leave Adelaide for England by the R.M.S.
Omrah next Thursday. Miss Jeffries will
leave for Sydney to-morrow, and after a
short sojourn in that city return, to America.
This afternoon there will be a matinee.
"Davy Garrick" and '"Comedy and
Tragedy" will be. staged.
