The Sales of Colonial Wool which havejnst con
eluded. have been looked to with mutlh interest by
,al branches of the trade, both from the quality
brought forward and the season of the year being
-considered a test aif mnaket tending to establish
fpture prices :-as might have been expected, there
was a very full attendance of buyers from all parts,'
and a considerable improvement in the demand,
particelarly for the West of.England. where thefire
?oustrAlian clothing wools are daily increasing in
reputation.
For Sydney-Wools of superior quality and good
snanagement, the prices are fully equal to those ob
tained in July, whilst'a general disappointment was
evinced at the ill-condition as to washing of munny
appioved flocks. and an increased, appearance of
burrs and prickles throughout~, (in many largaflocks
there was a large portion of old -hceps' wool). 4
'l'heTasmnanian flocks of repute show a shortness
-of -nstple, rendering them almost -useless to the
Comhers, from lwhom alone a high price can be oh
tained for Van Dienren's Land wool and where
the gales were suited to their use high prices were
obtained. The beautiful growth of -some=Lambs'
wool from this Colony being suited to the existing
-demand, very high pr ices have been paid
The Sales concluded with those of the Australian
Company's and other flicks fromSydney, at which
the hiddones were very spirited, and the market bas
afirm and healthy -tne.
