STANDS FOR TAXIS

With the increasing number of I
taxicabs and other vehicles grant- I
ed permits by the public service I
commission, traffic congestion in I
many places will be hard to avoid, I
i the chief says. In order to im- I
prove the service, he also recom- I
mends regulation of the hours dur- I
ing which taxi drivers are not I
compelled to take passengers. I
Chief Piatt pointed out the urg« I
ency of giving taxi drivers a I
chance to secure a certain amount I
of rest at the time they are or- I
