COMMONWEALTH PUBLIC SERVICE.

PROMOTIONS—SECTION 50 AND REGULATION 109.

THE following promotions are provisional and are subject to appeal by officers to the Public Service Board, and where consequent upon another

provisional promotion, are dependent upon the latter being confirmed The date of promotion is the date of this Gazette except where
otherwise specifically indicated. Where an officer desires to appeal against two or more provisional promotions a separate appeal should be lodged

for each one

Where to Lodge Appeals.

Appeals should be lodged either by letter or telegram so as to be received in the office of the appropriate officer by the close of business on the
twenty-first day after the date of this notification For this purpose the appropriate officer is—if the provisional promotion is made to an officer in —

(a) a State, the Public Service Inspector in that State,

(b) The Australian Capital Territory, the Chairman, Promotions Appeal Committee, Canberra, unless the provisional promotion is to

an office in the Department of Civil Aviation or the Postmaster General's Department, when the appropriate officer is the
Public Service Inspector, Sydney,

(c) the Northern Territory, the Chairman, Promotions Appeal Committee, Darwin,
(d) Norfolk Island, the Public Service Inspector, Sydney,

(e) the Territory of Papua or the Territory of New Guinea, the Public Service Inspector, Brisbane,
(f ) the Territory of Cocos (Keeling) Islands, the Public Service Inspector, Perth,

(g) any other place outside Australia, the Chairman, Promotions Appeal Committee, Canberra
Appeals not lodged with the appropriate officer within the prescribed period will not be accepted.
Grounds of Appeal.

The grounds of appeal are—

(I) (a) Superior efficiency or (b) Equal efficiency combined with seniority

(II) That the appellant is senior to the officer provisionally promoted and is efficient where promotion is made to one of these positions,

Assistant, Grade 1, Assistant, Grade 2, Assistant Storeman, Clerical Assistant, Grade 1, Hospital Assistant (Female),
Grade 2, Labourer, Grade 1, Lift Attendant, Lineman, Grade 2, Mail Officer, Monitor, Monitor (Female), Orderly,
Grade 1, Postal Assistant, Postal Officer, Postman, Preventive Officer, Grade 1, Quarantine Assistant, Grade 1, Storeman,
Telephomst

How to Lodge Appeal.

The appeal must show the Gazette date, promotee's name and Department, and ground of appeal It should be sent direct to the
appropriate officer with the following particulars at the foot of the appeal —

Full Name (block letters) Office or Branch
Personnel Number Department

Date of Birth Seniority date (or number)
Designation and Salary Scale or permanent position
Positions having either Third or Fourth Division Status.

For the purposes of appeal against provisional promotions to positions of Assistant Chief Drafting Officer, Assistant Radio Inspector,
Chief Drafting Officer, Communications Officer, Drafting Assistant, all grades Drafting Officer, all grades, EDP Operator, all grades,
Postal Clerk, Principal Technical Officer, Senior Communications Officer, all grades, Senior Drafting Officer all grades, Senior EDP
Operator, all grades, Senior Technical Officer all grades Supervisor, Grades 1 and 2 Supervisor in training (Mail), Technical Assistant, all
grades Technical officer, all grades, Telegraphist, Traffic Officer in training Trainee Engineer, seniority of Third Division officers in relation to
Fourth Division officers shall be determined m accordance with General Order 4-A 3, i e according to previous Fourth Division seniority, or
current Third Division seniority, whichever is the earlier

Salaries, &c.

By reason of the operation of Regulation 106a the annual rates of salary are increased as follows —

Adult Males and Married Minor (Males) Increase of £185 per annum
Adult Females Increase of £138 per annum
Minors—Proportionate adjustments as specified in Regulation 106a

Where positions have been the subject of an arbitration determination, the salary scales shown are those prescribed by Determinations.
