LONDON, July 6.
The Air Ministry reports little enemy
activity over Britain last night. A
few bombs were dropped in the east
and south-west. The damage was
trivial, and there were no casualties.
One enemy aircraft was destroyed.
A raid on the west Midlands early
on Saturday morning broke a spell of
several weeks of quiet nights in that
area. Bombs fell on two towns; houses
were damaged and some persons were
trapped. A few bombs also fell on
a town in south-west England.
An attack on another south-west
town lasted for several hours. Subur
ban property was damaged. Three
bodies have been recovered from a
wrecked house and two from a pri
vate school, and a man was killed
in the street. Several fires were
started, but were soon under control.
Enemy raids over Britain on Friday
night were heavier than for some time
recently. Bombs were dropped at
several points in the Midlands, where
activity was mainly concentrated, also
In south-west and eastern England
and South Wales.
No extensive damage was caused.
There were some casualties, including
a small number of persons killed. Three
enemy bombers were destroyed.
A Berlin communique claims that
the Luftwaffe last, night bombed Bir
mingham and Plymouth. It alleges
that British planes raiding Brest de
stroyed the Canadian war memorial.
