BARINGHUP PLOUGHING MATCH
On Thursday, 1st July, a ploughing match wns held
about a mile from Lawrence ra paddock, on the road to
Carisbrook, and about eight miles from the lattor town.
There were eight horse teams, and seven bullock teams
entered, and by nine o'clock they were nil on tho
ground. There was a good attendance of visitors from
all parts of tho district, aa it was well known that eomo
of tho crack ploughmen of tho provinoo had entered aa
competitors. The ploughing was oxcellont ; indeed tho
ouo which took tlio first prizo in horae teams wna par
ticularly bo. As will bo seon by tho subjoined roturn of
tho judges, Carisbrook boro off noarly tho whole of
tho prizes ; this fact speaks well for thia rising agricul
tural district.
Tho prizes wero awarded by tho unanimous voico of
tho judges, aa follow : —

toasts wero given, aftor which tho ' Agricultural So
ciety,' 'tho Judges,' 'tho PreBS,' &o., woro given,
nnd heartily rosponded to. Throughout the wholo of
tho proceedings tlio greatoat cordiality and good foeling
prevailed, and ovcry ono seamed pleased with tho result
