    THE Commander-in-Chief of the Italian navy is the Duke of Abruzzi, who was promoted to that rank a few months ago. He is a son of the Duke of J. Aosta, who was a brother of the late King Humbert of Italy and thus is a cousin of King Victor Emmanuel. He has visited Australia twice, the second time in 1905 on board the warship Liguria, in the course of a tour round the world. He has a high reputation as an explorer, and has led more than one expedition to the Polar regions.
