    IN forwarding the accompanying photographs, a Light Horseman writes:—The 2nd Australian Light Horse Brigade, commanded by Colonel Ryrie, is encamped at Ma'adi, about nine miles from Cairo. The camp is pitched on the sands of the desert. The men beautify the lines with stone pictures and mottoes. There are maps of Australia, and emus, and kangaroos all over the place. The caustic wit of the Army Medical Corps finds expression in the motto, outside the casualty tent, "Abandon hope, all ye that enter here." To emphasise the "joke," a skull and crossbones are outlined ... [ILLUSTRATED]
