  3. Adelaide Women Follow Sir Francis Drake

    ONCE A STRICTLY MASCULINE PASTIME, bowls now has many followers among Adelaide women, who play the game with as much zest as did Sir Francis Drake, who did so much to make it famous. Women's clubs have been formed at Hawthorn, Kensington Gardens, and Payneham. The above pictures were taken at the Payneham green yesterday, when members held a scratch match. Top (left): Mrs. G.
