    THE above illustration represents a battalion of the Victorian Militia Infantry Brigade on the march. The Brigade consists of five battalions, two metropolitan and three country. The Metropolitan Division and the Third and Fourth Battalion were formed in 1884, when the Volunteer force was reorganised, and practically continued the life of the Volunteer Infantry Regiments, which had been in existence since 1860.
