NEW HOTEL FOE
PORT KENNY
Will Cost About £3,000
APPLICATION FOR TRANSFER
OF LICENCE GRANTED
An application for the transfer of a
hotel licence from Denial Bay to sec
tion 15a, Hundred of Wright, at Port
Kenny, was made by Robert H. „
Wheaton at a sitting of the Western
Licensing Courts Port Lincoln/ on
Tuesday.
Mr. S. V. Ray S.M. presided.
Mr. C. R. Doudy appeared for the
applicant. The Superintendent cf
Licensed Premises (Mr. P. J. McNally)
was present and offered no objection
to the transfer.
Mr. Doudy said the applicant was
the proprietor and licensee of the
Federal Hotel, Denial Bay. Evidence
would be given to show thai the hotel
business a.t Denial Bay was not a pay
ing concern. The applicant was
anxious to remove the licence to Port
Kenny, where tie thought it was re
quired to a greater extent. If the ap
plication was granted, the applicant
would erect a hotel to cost a;bout
£(3,000, which would be equipped
with electric light, septic system and
hot water service. There was at pre
sent no accommodation for travellers
or other people at Port Kenny, apart
from that provided by the applicant
and his wife. At times they had to
turn away applicants for board and
lodging.
Evidence was given by Frederick
Oliver Skinner (storekeeper), Robert
H. Wheaton (hotel proprietor), George
William Pettit (manager for Bennett
and -Fisher Ltd.), Keith Leonard
Matheson (manager for Dalgety and
Co. Ltd.) and John Bernard Tuohy
(insurance representative) .
The application was granted.
