I BEACH CARNIVAL'
| MAIN FIXTURE
j A large crowd is expected at Solo
. moritown Beach on Monday, when the
beach improvement committee will hold
its first carnival since the war.
The carnival will be of an almost
impromptu nature, but enthusiasm dis-.
played 'by the committee at a recent
meeting augurs well for its, initial post
war venture.
- Principal decisions in connection with
the carnival were that aquatic sports
(with Mr. G. Dey in charge) and a baby
competition should be conducted during
the day, with openair dancing and an
impromptu concert in the evening, at
which B.H.A.S. Excelsior Band will
assist. .
The matter of having brighter lighting
installed for the night of the carnival
was broached by Mr. D. Jones. It was
suggested by the mayor that besides
having' the beach floodlit it might also
be festooned. He undei-took to enquire
into the matter.'
Although it had been hoped to provide
refreshments for holiday-makers, it was
stated last night that those plans had had
to be abandoned.
