BOY SAVED FROM
DROWNING
Fell Into River Near
Queen's Wharf
RESCUER FULLY
CLOTHED
A boy of about nine, who did not
give Iris name, was saved from
drowning in Pirie River near Queen's
Wharf on Wednesday night by Mr.
N. W. Webb, of Solomontown.
Mr. Webb, who is employed) on No.
C Barge,, wls cycling along" the wharf
lo his employment about 9 p.m. when
he heard cries coming trom the water,
| opposite the post office.
He jumped in without discarding his
| clothing and dragged the boy to the
top of the wharf. The lad, who was
also clothed, immediately ran away:
Apparently the boy had been play
ing 011 the wharf, and had .fallen in.
Mr. Webb was the only man within
hearing at the time. He lives in
Three Chain road and has been in
Pirie about six months. Formerly he
lived at Semaphore, where he was a
member of the life-saving club.
