W.A. Premier Resigns
PERTH. Tuesdav.
Owing to ill-health the Premier, Mr.
Collier, has resigned from the premier
ship. Mr. Collier has had a distin
guished career in West Australian pol
itics. He will, however, retain his seat
in the houise.
It was later announced that Messrs
Willcock and Troy have been elected
Premier and deputy Premier respec
tively.
The new Premier was Minister for
Railways and Justice. He has repre
sented Geraldton since 1927 and has
been in the Ministry since 1924.
The new Premier was born in New
South Wales and came to this State
in 1899. He entered the railway de
partment soon afterwards and became
an engine driver. He held different
offices iri the engine drivers, firemen
and cleaners' union until he was elec
ted a member of the Legislative
Assembly.
