nition of Mr. Huckerby's able and
distinguished services on their behalf

nr. J. P. Morgan, president of the
V'ictorian branch, was in the chair.
The evenitng was enlivened by musi
cal numbers contributed by members
of the Australian Vaudeville Associa
tion.
Mr. J. A. Southwood, M.L.A. of
South Australia, Grand President of
the Association, eulogised the work
of Mr. Iluckerby and the able man
ner in which he had conducted thi
case in the court during the twenty
one days it was before Mr. Justice
powers. Mr. Huckerby's work had
not cost the organisation one penny
for legal expenses, and he had gained
splendid results. He had much plea
sure in presenting him with a gold
watch and chain and a cheque for
one hundred guineas in recognition
of his services.
.?r. John Fuller, junr., of Fuller
Vaudeville Ltd., gave an interesting
address, and told how he started in
the theatrical business as a call-boy
and how his companies had grown.
ie also referred to the excellent
manner Mr. Huckerby, general sec
retary, had conducted the employes'
case. He knew what a brain-racking
job it was. Mr. Huckerby was de
serving of great credit for his work.
Mr. Huckerby, in thanking the
msmibers, referred to the increased
wages that had been procured
through the court, and said that his
association stood for arbitration.
When they had grievances they would i
go to the court to get -them rectified,
and members could rely upon him al
ways doing his utmost for them. He
had not looked for such a reward,
but, of course, it was very pleasing
to him, as it would ,be to any man,
to meet with such recognition, and
he thanked them most heartily.
