USE OF GAS
PRODUCERS
Suggested Restrictions
In Certain Areas
A recommendation was made
last week by the Director of Agri
culture (Mr. W. J. SpafTord) that
all the well-grassed areas in this
State should be declared areas
where a gas producer could not be
used during December, January,
and February. The Premier (Mr.
Playford) said that he would have
the order prepared, but in the
meantime he would ask the Liquid
Fuel Control Board that additional
petrol be granted to consumers in
the districts. The prohibition would
reduce fire risks. It was most im
portant in the serious feed position
that every precaution should be
taken against fire loss. The areas
recommended by Mr. Spafford for
prohibition of gas producers are: —
The counties of Flinders, Grey,
Robe and McDonnell, the district
councils of Encounter Bay, Yanka
1111a, Willunga, Noarlunga,
Meadows, Stirling, East Torrens,
Teatree Gully, Barossa, Mount
Pleasant, Gumeraoha, Mount
Barker, and Port Elliot.
