Eight Ships Hit in
Norway Clash
LONDON, Thursday (A.A.P.i.-Reu
ters correspondent aboard a cruiser
of the Home Fleet has revealed that
the naval action against enemy ship
ping in the Bodo area of North Nor
way this week brought the following
results:
S(11 'An .8000-ton..tanker was hit ard

three times. by bombs aird left witn
smoke pouring out;
(3i An 8000-ton freighter was left
burning after .one hit and a number of.
near misses:
(4)m :A, loaded barge was bombed and
ran on to a beach:
(5) :A 500-ton freighter was let
listing with the crew abandoning her.
Other hits, the efTect of which could
not be observed. brought the total of
vessels hit to eight merchawitmen ct
from 3000 to 8000 tons and also a
landing barge and a 1200-ton ore yes
set.
Admiral Sir Bruce Fraser signalled
from his flagship telling the other ships
of the fleet in port to give a cheer as
she entered the harbour to the Unite-i
States aircraft carrier from which tor
pedo planes and dive-bombers were
launched.
