The Master Warden of the Marine Board
and Warden Green had an interview to day
with the Treasurer on the subject of the
amount owing by the cable repairing steamer
Sherard Osborne for pilot services outside
the river After the Master Warden had
pointed out that although the Board were
perfectly willing to supply a pilot in the
river free it was hardly fair to ask them to
bear the colt of his services outside The
Treasurer said that it was evident the company
were not liable, and the question
simply lay between the Board and the
Government, and he would consider the
matter, and endeavour to come to some
satisfactory arrangement '
Aldermen Farrelly and Douglas, members
of the City and Suburban Improvement
Association, interviewed the Premier with
reference to some alterations to the South
Esk bridge, so as to give access to the new
pathway they were constructing, and Mr
Fysh promised to confer with the officers of
the department, and endeavour to meet
their wishes.
The weather to day was most oppressive,
the thermometer ranging up to Bidelia
shade In the evening thunder clouds
gathered up, and a little rain fell, but not
enough to make any appreciable difference
in the atmosphere.
