GENERAL INVESTMENTS
MOVE UP.
MELBOURNE, Thursday. - Prices
for general investments resumed a
strong upward trend at the Stock Ex
change to-day. Brewery shares were
in demand, but prices were somewhat
irregular.
A further fall in prices of Australian
Consols caused the average interest
yield of the 4 per cent, issues to rise
to £3/15/10 per cent. Business was
moderate, and involved about £27,000.
Seven falls were shown, against one
rise.
In sympathy with the London mar
ket, prices of base metal stocks were
slightly easier. Profit-taking caused
a reaction in Mt. Lyell, but buyers
offered 1/ more for Satupulo tin with
out attracting business.
