WEMBLEY RESULTS.
DIOFICIT OF £1,800,000.
INCREASING GOVERINMENT AID.
LONDON, Feb. 23.
The financial results of the British
Empire Exhibition are outlined in an
oflicial memorandum, showing that at
the close of the exhibition last year the
expenditure had amounted to £3,00,000,
and receipts to £2,100,000. Lloyd's Bank
advanced to the exhibition authorities
£1,S00,000, and thero is also a liability
of £150,000 for the balance of the enter
taimnents duty on adnmissions to the
exhibition. The guarantee fund stood
at £1,20,000, including £100,000 from
the Government, which agreed that a bill
be submitted to Parliament raising the
Exchequer's guarantee to £1,100,000,
provided ~ that sufficient support from
the dominions, colonies, and exhibitors
was secured to ensure at satisfactory ex
hibition in 1925, and that other guar
antors consented to a continlualnce of
the guarantees. The Government also
requested that measures should be
adopted to strengthen the financial ad
ministration of the exhibition.-.(Reu
