BOARD OF ADVICE PHIZES.
(To the Editor of the Bciuliijo Advertiser.)
Sir,-Being anxious about the prizes, I feel
rather interested in the result, and am very
glad to see that -Mr. Craig, Government Inspec
tor has consented to conduct tiie examination;
but, Sir, I think it would bo unjust for the
members to see the questions or interfere in any
way with the examination work, as it is well
known that some of their children are com
peting for the prizes also. It is reported that a
certain school, not a hundred miles from the
German, has on one or two occasions received
information previous to the Board's intended
visit, while the other SCIIOQIS were not accorded
a similar notification. It is all very well for one
or two members of the Sandhurst Board of
Advice to supply this teacher with information,
out they must bear in mind that they are only
bringing disgrace 011 themselves and the whole
subject into disrepute, and this information
uiigUt be accorded in this prize contest, which is
of far more importance to the teachers than a
notification of a Board's visit. I am sure all the
teachers who have pupils competing will look,
with a jealous eurc after their interests, and if
this is found out when it is too late-instead of
peace and harmony prevailing, it wili only cause
au everlasting slur on the Board and those who
were dishonest enough to resort to such under
hand means, and place their neighbours at a dis
advantage. I also see in your morning's issue
that the members' wives are to act as the
" sewing judges." This again is all very well,
provided they were not interested in any of the
competitors. By inserting above you will greatly
oblige, yeurs, &c.,
JAMES SMITH.
