HUGHES PARK ESTATE.
HOYLETON, December 6— The town of
Hoyleton presented unusual signs of ac-
tivity on Friday, the occasion being the
subdivisional sale of portion of the Hon.
J. J. Duncan's Hughes Park estate, which
lies west of the railway, and runs to within
1½ miles of the Hoyleton station. The
portion offered comprise some of the best
agricultural land placed upon the market
for some time. -There .were 8,157 acres,
submitted, in 15 lots by Mr. A.C. Catt, of
Bagot, Shakes, & Lewis, who sold, in co
junction with. Elder Smith, & Co. Every
lot was sold, the highest price paid being
£5 10/ per acre tor lot 1, and the lowest
£4. 3/ per acre for lot 6, the whole realis-
ing over £41.000. There was a'large at-
tendance of farmers from all parts and
the bidding at times was very brisk. The
buyers -were S. Hi Tiller, W. H.Hancock,
Saunders Bros., Clark Bros., Miss C.E.
Chapman, Haydon Bros., Evan Bros., J. C.
Tucker, J and M. Sullivan, E. Spinkston,
from the surrounding districts; W. A.
Stacey, Alfred Newman, from Yankalilla;
and M. Hallion, Mallala.
