and is likely to 'continue firm; !'but still,
scarcely any "transactions are taking- place. Best
Adelaide brands of flour (Hart and Margery's) are
said to bo worth from L22 to L2210s; it her brands;
L21. Rome speculative transactions are being
attempted in tobacco, in the expectation of an ad
vance after the arrival of the next mail. Messrs
Fraser and Co sold, this day, a large quantity of
tobacco. Dark, half pounds, Is 8Jd; tens, Is 3OJd
to Is lid; and low quality twist, Is 2d per pound.
Among the insolvency schedules filed to-day are
those of Abraham George, miner, Daylesford;

The Customs Revenue collected at the Port of
Melbourne on Tuesday amounted to L4,430 3s 2d.

The following amounts of gold were entered nt
the Customs for export, per the Madras, to-day:—
Six boxes, 7,723 ozs 9 dwts, for Rank of Victoria;
two boxes, 2,785 ozs 15 dwts 18 grs, for London
Chartered Bank; two boxes, 2,647 ozs 15 dwts
18 grs, for London Chartered Bank; twelve'bnxes,
for Bank of Western India, 13,862 ozs 5 dwts; ten
boxes, for Bank of Australasia, 9,033 ozs 4 dwts
2 grs; ten boxes, for Agra Bank, 4.814 ozs I dwt;

Mining Surveyor.—The Government Gazette
of Tuesdays appoints Thomas Forbes to be a
mining surveyor, vice A. it. 0. Harrison, re
signed. '
M ental Derangement.—The liiverine Uerall
says :—Intelligence has been received in Ecliuca
that the body ol a digger, of the name of Fritz
Kiilstrom, a Swede, has been found in a water
hole at llushworth, by the police. There were
no marks of violence. The unfortunate man has
for some time been of unsound mind, nnd it is
supposed that having wandered from his home
during the night after his mates bod retired to
rest, he fell into the dam where he was iound,
aad drowned.
