The transition ( of the annual show of
the Sheepbreeders' Association, which was
entered upon on June 28 at the Royal
Agricultural 'Society's grounds, from a
Merino exhibition to one of British
breeds, makes another pronounced step
forward this- year.
In Merinos in the small classes in the
houlsed section fcheGoatwyck and Qanonbar
sheep divided the principal awards. The
chief interest centred upon the appearance
of Mr. H. L. Austin's Hercules, which was
sold a few seasons ago to South Australia
for 1,800 guineas. Thig ram, although. 6
years' old, carries a magnificent fleece of
nigh-class, 6trong wool. He wais beaten by
a big robust Oannonbar-bred son of Bbo
hoke I., which cost 1,600 guineas. There
were 86 entries in the unhoused section, em
compared with 100 last year, and most of
the classes provided good competition. _ The
principal awards were pretty well split up
between Ganonbar station, Mr. R-. W
White, -of Harben Vale, Messrs. Read
Bros., of KooBDogama, and Major ~C. C.
Dasgar, of Gostwyck.
