SOUTH ADELAIDE V. NORTH ADELAIDE.
Matters in connection with feotball were practically
dead on Saturday, tuere.being only matches at Ken
sington and Alberton, but neither was sufficiently
interesting to attract a large attendance. In the
former a good game eventuated, and although the . .
South Adelaides won with several -points to the good
the contest was fought stubbornly from start to
finish. Tfae.North Adelaides have lately been playing
in good form, although it must be admitted that the
senior teams are not so strong- as they were, and that
they have not Buch a great superiority over the
junior, or rather the newer, teams that they possessed
at one lime. The .souths had a representative team
in ' the field, and it was naturally anticipated
that they would have no difficulty in securing
another win, but such was . not the case, as
the red-and-white played up splendidly, and
it was only iu the last quarter' that the
premiers forged ahead to any extent. Games fought
out so well should* do much to rehabilitate football in
the public estimation. In the last quarter Kay came
out of his shell and kicked three goals in excellent
style, but otherwise the juuiors hod 'almost as much
say in the play. Mr. Coffee made an impartial and
fast umpire. The scores were:—
Quarter Time. - -
South Adelaide, 0 goals 5 bchinds.
North Adelaide, 1 goal 2 bctiinds.
Half Time.
South Adelaide, 4 goals 7 behinds.
Korth Adelaide, 2 goals 4 behinds. '
Three-quarter Time.
South Adelaide, 5 coals 4 behinds.
Korth Adelaide, 4 yoalsiJ behiuns.
Final.
South Adelaide, 8 goals 9 behinds.
North Adelaide, 6 goals 9 Behinda. - ~
? KOR WOOD V. NATIVES.
The Alberton Oval was the' rendezvous of the meet
ing between the Nonvoods and Natives ou Saturday
afternoon, but the attendance was not large. The
.Norwoods had a fairly representative team on the
ground but had ,.to fill up with several substitutes,
and as the Natives have been playing well recently
the result of the match was regarded as doubtful.
That this was justified was borne tful by the fact that
it was drawn. In the first half of the play the Junior
team had tile best of. matters, and made use of their
opportunities to score' on' three occasions against
their oppoueiits' two. Afterwards the Norwoods got
another goal, so that the game was drawn. Mr.' Dean
acted as umpire. The scores .at half-time were :—
Natives, 3 goals 4 behinds; and Norwoods, 2 goals X.
behind, the final being :—
Norwood, 3 goals 6 behinds.
Natives, 3 goals 5 bebimls.
