'NEW CHEVROLET IS

(By 'Servo')
It is a far cry from the Chevrolet of 10 or 12 years
ago to the new Chevrolet announced today by the West
Australian distributors, Sydney Atkinson Motors Ltd.
Glancing back over that decade or so, one sees the Chevrolet
of 1925 or 1926, already noted for its marked capability and its
economy ot operation.
One feature in particular was
a. characteristic of those early
models and has always been a
feature of Chevrolet design — its
remarkable capacity for nard
work, and unremitting- /service,
T~)OWN the years, Chevrolet has con
J-/ tinued to improve in design, and
in its capacity to provide safe and com
fortable and economical travel. Today,
the New Chevrolet has incorporated
in its design features tending to make
it better, safer and more comfortable
and silent than ever before.
Take for instance, its body construc
tion. The design incorporates what is
described as Diamond Crown speedline
styling. The lines are . essentially
smart and graceful, but the design is
based on comfort-providing features
just as much as the desire to give lines
of smartness and style in conformity
with the modern trend.
The body is of Unisteel construc
tion, with turret top. , ? ?
Its all-steel body shows how
enormous strength has been built
into the 'turret tops.'
Thus is provided an integral struc
ture welded at all joints and strongly
reinforced and braced, providing tre
mendous^strength and a body capable
of long years of silent service. No
bolts; screws, rivets or nails are used
and the result is the elimination of
rattles and a permanently noiseless
body.
TVHIS strength of construction has
been accompanied by the incor
poration of additional comfort features
The result is that the New Chev
rolet is smoother, more comfortable
and more luxurious than ever be
fore.
One finds, too, many features which
are characteristic of really expensive
cars. The gears are synchro-mesh— a
real contribution to driving safety and
ease; perfected hydraulic brakes are
fitted, and a new high compression en
gine, accompanied by hypoid gears,
super-safe shockless steering (Master
de Luxe models), independent front
wheel springing (Master de Luxe mod
els), no draught ventilation, new
bridge— span box girder frame, octanp
selector, balanced down draught car
buretter, pressure stream oiling, stabi
lised front end, easy jacking system,
air-cooled generator, and many other
features.
? ? ?
TN both the Standard and Master
x Chevrolets for 1937. the wheel
base has been increased to 112J inches.
In both the Standard and Master
models a giant luggage trunk, which
really has plenty of room, is featured.
The Chevrolet overhead valve six
cylinder engine has been retianed, but
has been re-designed to give better and
more silent performance with im
proved economy.
The new Chevrolets are on view at
the showroom of Sydney Atkinson Mo
tors Ltd., Temple Court Buildings,
Perth.
