NEW PLANET.
Name of Pluto Suggested.
LINE OF ROMAN GODS.
FLAGSTAFF (Arizona), Sunday.—
The Observatory scientists suggest the
namen Pluto for the planet discovered
on March 13. One scientist stated:
"We feel that the line of Roman gods
after which other planets were named
should not be broken. The discovery
was so pre-eminently a triumph for
our reasoning that our choice would
have been Minerva if the name had
not been appropriated." It was
stated also that Pluto would lend itself
easily to the monogram "P.L.," the
initials of Mr. Percy Lowell, the noted
astronomer.
