Death Writes Finis To A Barrie Romance
Eighty-four-year-old Guild
ford man David Doig, who has
followed the now-famous
romantic story of the late
author and playwright Sir
James Barrie and his former
wife Mary Ansell, has seen
the last chapter closed.
Mr. Doig, who knew both
Sir James and Miss Ansell
personally, has received word
from his homo town of Kirrie
nuiir (Scotland* rhat Miss!
.Ansell died iv-va-iy in Franco.'
Mr. Doig received a letter
from Miss Ansell soon after
the death of Sir James in June,
3937.
He said that Barrie chose
Mary Ansell to play the part
of Nanny O'Brien in his
famous play Walker London
in 1896.
'They fell in love. It was
fitting that he chose the
Thrums for the scone of their
romantic wedding.' Mr. Dolg

The couple were happy in
