THE MADONNA GIRL
A girl from a New Zealand lumber
camp is being talked about by famous
artists as tEe modern Madonna, says
the 'Sunday Express.'
They say she is the exact counterpart
of Leonardo da Vinci's fariious Madonna
picture, 'The Virgin on the Rocks.'
She is Miss Marguerite feaiie, a pro
fessional model.
Hf-r serene beauty is of medieval
mould. Finely painted features, perfect
— natural — eyebrows' high, marble-white
forehead.
'I was not always an artist's model,'
said Miss Salle to a 'Sunday Ex
press' representative.
'I ran away at 18 from the lumber
camp at Rua~Kaka, New Zealand, where
I was born and brought up, and then
studied art.
'But so many artists asked me to
pose for them that I became a model.
'Since then I have travelled all over
the world.'
Miss Salle has had more than 200
offers of marriage.
And she has never once been painted
as the Madonna.
'Nobody wants to paint religious pic
tures now,' she explains. -
