KALGOORLIE, Wednesday.
Totake a sick wireless operator at Forrest to Adelaide
for treatment, the A.N.A. airliner Kyeema today made a
special call at the emergency drome there.
On the way from F^erth to Kalgoorlie the plane received
a wireless message from Forrest stating that Sid La wren
son was suffering acutely from an abscess on the jaw.
Captain F. W. Collopy delayed the plane here for 10
minutes while a member of the Kaleroorlie firm of agents
hurried into town for medicine to ease Lawrenson's pain on
the flight.
Members of the crew of the two R.A.A.F. Avro Anson
bombers, who spent the night at Forrest and passed through
here en their way to Pearce aerodrome, said that Lawren
son's face and neck had swollen very badly. One eye was
dosed and he found it difficult to eat.
Formerly a regular stopping place, Forrest, one of the
loneliest outposts in Australia, is now almost deserted. In
addition to Lawrenson, a ground engineer, another wireless
operator and a housekeeper are stationed there.
