A Caledonian Pipe Band
drummer, dressed in full rega
lia, feJl asleep while driving
his seven-ton truck home
from a dance on October 21.
The truck collided with a
tree, a shop blind and an elec
tric light pole in Albanyhigh
way, Victoria Park.
This was said in Perth Traf
fic Court today when general
carrier William Peat Edgar
(48), of Littlejohn-rd., Arma
dale, was charged with having
driven while under the influ
ence of liquor.
Edgar, who pleaded not
guilty, was fined £20. His driv
ing licence was suspended for
three months.
Edgar said that on the
night of the accident he was
very tired because he had been
up since 3.30 a.m.
That was the reason he fell
asleep and later failed to pass
a sobriety test, he said.
