Disarmament
Talks Again
Arranged
GENEVA, Wednesday.
The Bureau of the League Assembly
has decided to convene the third dis
armament commission, which has not
met for three years.
Mr. S. M. Bruce and also M.
Politis (Greece) were mentioned
in the lobbies as possible succes
sors to the late Mr. Arthur Hend
erson as chairman.
Endeavoring to make up some of the
time lost last week through slow con
sideration of Abyssinian representation,
four committees sat today simul
taneously.
In the afternoon and early evening
the general committee of the Assembly
also met and decided to constitute a
disarmament committee.
The first committee considered a
draft convention for the prevention
and punishment of terrorism, designed
to make it easier to deal with sub
versive activities.
Australia agrees to the conven
tion, but like Britain, does not
favor the creation of an Inter
national Court.
Britain also opposes the proposals for
extradition of political offenders, and
she is supported by Belgium, which
warmly contended that in no case
would she hand over refugees, whose
only crime was that ? they disagreed
with the Government.
