CHILDREN SHOCKED BY
FILM
HID FACES AT MATINEE
During the screening of "Franken-<*>
stein" at an eastern suburbs matinee,
children were so shocked by one hor-<*>
ror scene that they hid their faces
under the rails of the frent stalls, it
was stated by the metropolitan
licensing inspector, Mr. T. I.
Courtenay, at a public inquiry which
began to-day, by the Films Commis
sion, to determine whether unsuit
able films were being screened before
children.
He thought pictures of this nature
should not be shewn to children, de
clared witness, who said that films
showing robberies with violence, etc,
also were unsatisfactory for children,
as their young minds had a tendency
to dwell on such themes.
