APPROACH TO
EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
FURTHER CLAIMS FOR
ETSABLISHMENT OF FOURTH
YEAR CLASS
Although unsuccessful in the
endeavours to have a fourth year
class established at Singleton
Intermediate High School when
representation was made a- few
years ago, the Parents and
Citizens' Association has decided
to make further representation
to the Education Department.
The subject was raised at Mcnday
night's meeting by the president of
the P- and C. (Mr. Norman Gray),
who said he again favoured making
representation.
The headmaster (Mr. G. Madg
wick) said that the offer previously
made by the Minister to establish a
fourth year class if ten pupils could
be enrolled applied only to the par
ticular year in question- He did net
say that a fourth year would be es
tablished any time 10 pupils could be
enrolled. Mr. Madgwick went on to
say that full facilities were offered
at Maitland and at tho present time
the Education Department was hav
ing grave staffing difficulties.
Mr. Madgwick did not appear op
timistic about the outcome of the
representations.
However, ? inquiry is to be made as
to how many students are likely to
remain for a fourth year and repre
sentation will then be made to the
Department.
