AN IMMIGRANT's
LAPSE
AND ITS RESULT

bons, R.M.. and G. E. Prout, J.P., in

facts of the case, said that the accused
arrived in. the State recently as an im
migrant by the steamer Ajana. Ac
cused occupied a room at the. Sailors'
P».cst with the complainant, and on
March l the latter went to Perth on
'business. On his return, Lirkiquist
found that bis clothing and a -watch
and chain had been stolen from the

ways. ,':What- is .your age?'

thing-, a case like this, when a man
can't leave °,oods in his rooms for a
short while without losing them. Had
accused told the police at the time he
v-as arrested, a few days ago. what he
had done with the watch and chain,
there may have been a chance- of the
jewellery being recovered. As it is, he
did not mention nbouc this until this
morning, so that we have had no
chance so far to trace the articles.

WinsorV
