CANBERRA, Tues— After
a meeting of the full Cabinet
today Prime Minister Curtin
announced that the National
Security (Racing Restriction 1
Regulations would be amend
ed to remove the ban on pub
lication of nominations for
race meetings before the de
claration of weights.
Ban : would also be removed on
publication of information con
cerning interstate racing.
Mr Curtin said that regulations at
present provide that country race
meetings : shall . not exceed the num
ber held between the period January
1, 1942, and September 30, 1942.
That period had been one of mili
tary activity and many racecourses
were requisitioned. As a result many
country clubs did not hold their usual
number of race meetings at that time.
'PREVIOUS PERIOD'
It had been decided, Mr Curtin said,
that the regulations should be amend
ed to provide that the calendar year
1941 be now. regarded as the 'pre-
vious period' in the case of clubs pre
vented from holding meetings be
cause of occupation of their courses.
Mr Curtin emphasised that the re
laxations proposed would be subject
in every case to the condition that ad
ditional transport should not be re
quired. ? ???.?
