Three Occupants Incinerated.
WRECKAGE LOCATED NEAR
WINTON.
Brisbane, To-day.
The Qantas mail plane Atlanta,
which left Winton at 530 a.m.
yesterday for Longreach, crashed
after going a short distance, and
the three occupants were inciner-
ated.
It was due at Longreach at 7 p.m.
but when no word had been received
up to the evening a search was made,
and the plane located.
The plane was in charge of Pilot
Chapman, who had as passengers Mr.
L. Henickson, sub-manager of the
Shell Company, Sydney, and Mr. K.
McKnoe, manager of the sandalwood
cutting syndicate at Winton. Pilot
Chapman had just been appointed a
pilot on the Singapore-Darwin section
of the air route from England.
