THE M'KERNAN CASE ?'
(To the Editor.)
'Sir,— I' shall deem it a favor if' you
wiil allow' me space for ,a few brief ob
servations on this case. ' 'All is well
that ends well,' Is an old saying, which
was^- never more happily realised than
in my^cafse. 'It is a greit pleas'ire
to me to find old, but estranged, friends,J
once more1 extending to me the warm
liand of gooil-fellowship;'and amongst
tnem. not least is iur. it. ».. naynes
himself. .' \
? ^Unfortunately1, I 'was/never given an
opportunity to defend myself before,
and ^therefore hailed my arrest with
feelings of pride and the utmost satis
faction 'in anticipation of a. satisfac
tory ending, which I alone knew was
bound to come in time, to a matter
which caused me very great annoy
ance-^ Indefed. , 'But -so. far from being
de'spondeht'-at any period, of my deten
tion I can 'honestly aver that the ; time
glided along lightly, being punctuated
by a constant1 string o£ b'ubbling jik^s,
jests, ''stories, and . laughter right
throughout. -
I', would like to p!acp:on .record' my
appreciation : o£ the kindness shown; to
me'. by therpolice officials at Roe-street,
where! ; was made : to feel as comfort- j
able as, possible. I cannot speak too
highly for the work done by the Perth
.Hospital .hands. Dr. Tymms, In my
humble opinion,1 is the right man In the
right- place,, and his assistants* show a
proper care and anxiety for those. In
their charge, but I cannot say too much
for the. kindness and geniality of the(
nurses, especially in No. 4 Ward, where
I was located. Indeed, their bright
ness1: and1- good humor .being . over on'
hand goes a' long way to' cheer 'up pa
tients. - ..The' good work done by this
*»vnAllpnf-...fnsMt-nf Inn ran niilv ho'rpul
Isi^d by an. observant -inmate, which i!
think I ican claim. ' to . have been during
?my stay. there.
?Also, I would thank those ?'? anxious
friends .'who troubled to write me sym
pathetic-letters, and hasten to assure
them all' together, that I was never
better in , my. life. My time .was well
spent for now I find, as It should have
been from 'the .first, that all 'are my
frlends.^-I am; sir, yours.1 -.etc..
