MOTOR CAB FATALITY.
Gawler, September 30.
Residents- of the Gawler district re.
ceiveti a groat shock to-dpy on hearing
that a fatal motor accident ><ad occurred
to Mr. Frederick J, Harris. Mr. Harris,
accompanied by hia son, Mr. Noel Har
ris, Mr. John M-jr.timer, and a chafleur,
le/t Gtwler by motor car thte morning,
with the intention of visiting the Ka
punda horse' sale. AUout half a mile this
Bido of Kapunda the car suddenly over
turned, and all the occupants wero
thrown out. Mr. Frederick Harris wan
pinned under the car, and was so se
verely injured that he succumbed in
about a quarter of an hour while bei:>g
conveyed to the Kapunda hospital in tha
ambulaace. - Mr. Noel Harris had a tooth
knocked out, and received a severe shcck,
while Mr. Mortimer- and the chafleur sus
tained- a ? severe shaki/igi.. It " is'-'net
thought,. however, that they are serious
ly injured. -Mr. Harris only spoke onco
after the accident, to enquire if his son
was all right. The party took a hamper
with them, and had just previously par
takoa of lunch - in- a--.paddock-. Mr. Mor
timer states that they cannot account for
the car overturning, .but think that some
thing happened to the tire. The car was
wrecked.
Mr. Harris was the seoond s' n of the
late 3J/r. James Harris, of "the Gawler
.stores. Since his .father's death. be had
been sole manager of the business of
Messrs. James Harris and Sons, Gawler.
Mr. Harris had remained ojoof from pub
lic matters, but he was a Past. Master
of the Gawler Freemasons. . . He -.was
known as a keen and successful business
man. He has left a widow and two
sons (Dr. Jaineg Harnis,*. of Fort Pirie,
Mr. Noel Harris,- of .Gawler)' and threo
grown up daughters;
