NORTH-SOUTH RAILWAY
BROKEN FEDERAL FMvDGKS
To the Editor
Sir — One of the most shameful iliingf.
recorded in the lustory of South Aus
tralia will be that the agreement made ?
with the Commonwealth Government ,
to complete the north-souUi railway '
has not vet been honored. Wo
handed over the Northern Territory '» j
fjood faith, but Federal Governments
have ignored the agreement. Mr.
Crawford Vaughan states it is a case
for the Disabilities Commission now
sitting. The question is— who is to
blame that agreements are ignored?
Not Federal Governments only; the
State must take its share. Each party
in power has carried out a policv of
inaction. They should long since have
threatened to withdraw from t^e Fed
eration if the agreement was not com
pleted. It is not too late for meetings
of protest, and influence could be used
in respect to candidates for the next
Fedpral election. Our thanks are due
to Mr. Crawford Vsushan for his brave
fisht.— I am. Sir &c..
