Murray Bridge Races Tomorrow
ADELAIDE HORSES
COMPETING
Simon's Bier Will Not
Run
By 'GABBB1EK'
Mid-week race meetings are
popular with Adelaide racing
folk, and tbe Murray Bridge Club
should have a successful fixture
tomorrow, as tbe fields will in
clude many horses trained fn the
metropolitan area,
Mr. M. J. Hogan will have charge of
the racing, and will act with the
local stewards, Messrs. H. D. Young,
MX.C A. P. Bowman, J. T. S. Bott,
A. MCParlane, A. B. Withers, and P.
J. Baily. Mr. M. F. Othams will be
judge, and Mr. B. A. Gordon starter.
A special train will leave Adelaide
at 955 tomorrow morning. The re
turn fare is 7/10.
The fields should be well up to the
average in size, and good racing can
be expected. Tbe course is in first
class order.
Prospects Summarised
Of the many novices engaged in the
first event, perhaps the locally-trained
Fleuristol or the disappointing Double
Error may do best, and the River Han
dicap looks like being fought out by
Borneo and Mellurian, although Me
lanous may do well.
Simon's Bier was withdrawn yester
day from the Flying Handicap, so
that the race for the first leg of the
double presents a more open appear
ance than previously. In the pro
bable absence of Moab, it looks like
Twocrasia, Tefcess, Income, and Mary
Bob being most prominent.
Hungarian is top weight in the
Brush Steeplechase, and at his best
he would be preferred to the others,
but Monarch Lad is returning to form,
and with Emref and ^'p Sam should
make the race Interesting.
Maifey and Pre-Eminent read best
in the Trial Stakes, which will be
run over a mile, but Mattette has
been winning several small races at
river meetings. 'Wnittlck, if pro
duced, should run forward, but her
legs gave her trouble after her victory
at Balaklava, end she was unable to
do herself justice at Cheltenham on
Saturday.
Tbe Welter may resolve Itself into
a contest between Mary Bob and
Martlnello, but Melanous, if reserved
from the - Handicap, would be dan
eerous. Cevantes has not raced for
a long while, and the distance may
be too short for Borneo.
