FQRSTER CUP CARWVAL
VISITORS ENTERTAINED.
The Sag officers and committee of the
Koval Yacht Squadron tendered a dinner
to 'the visitors to this State in connec
tion -with the Forster -and Albert Cnps
at the Wentworth Cafe, Currie-street, on
Friday evening. Commodore A. G. Ky
mill presided.
In proposing tie toast of The Donors,'
Vice-Commodore T. SL Hardy eaid the
growth of popnlarity in boats of the 21
t. class in Australia was due in a large
measure to Lord Forster. former Governor
General, donor of the Forster Cup. He
was held in high esteem by every yachts
man in Australia, both for the unselfish
interest he liad mown in the 'sport and
for the evident knowledge of it which he
had displayed. Mr. F. Albert, of Sydney,
the donor of the Albert gold cup had also
done mnch for yachting in. the Common
wealth, and Commodore Kynull, who gave
tie Commodore's trophy,-- had always
taken a' great deal of interest in the sport.
Mr. S. M. Dempster (chairman of the
Sydney Yacht Racing Association) respon
ded on behalf of the donors. ... ^
Commodore RymilT proposed the toaw
of The Winners.' He- congratulated
.Mr. Ba'tt, dripper . of the crew of Tasee,
upon tiie saccesa ? of Lie boat and «w.
He had proved himself a; worthy winner
and had niav^d the same throughout. An
other winner, but in a smaller way, was

Commodore's trophy. The losers also
deserved praise for the way they: had

Mr. W. P. Batt, slripper of Tassie, said
he would rather sail a race than make a
speech. He thanked the South Austra
lian authorities for the splendid reception
which had been -accorded them.
.Mr. MUson, captain of E.O.J., thanked
the officials of the Royal Yacht Squadron
for the hospitality extended the-n. On
behalf of himself and his crew, he =ou
gratulated Mr. Batt and his comrades upoa
their victory in the Forster Cup.
Bear-Commodore T. C. Angove proposed
the iealth of 'The Losers.' He said they
had. had an enjoyable week's snort, aad
it'was pleaans to s&» the way the c*e»re
of the losing yachts came out every day
end sailed die courses.
llr. H. E. Winterbottom, of the LaJr
Alice, responded on behalf of the unsuc
cessful competitors. He complimented the
officials of the South Australian squadron
on the arrangements for the carnival.
Messrs. W. G. Green (Etfora), T. I*.
Jones (Caress IL). W. H. Poirell (Gvm«a),
ond L. Edwards (Ardale), supported Mr.
'Winterbottom. Mr. Powell said as one
of the principal losers, he wished to con
gratulate Tassie 6 crew on their success.
It was not an enviable experience to have
to .chase that craft round the course iu
every, race..
Captain F. -T. B. Blacker submitted the
toast, 'Visitors and Kindred Clubs.' He
expressed the hope that those who hid
competed in the recent carnival wou:d
have the opportunity to meet again in
Sydney next year.
Mr. W. A. Douglas, commodore of the
Royal Queensland Yacht Club, and Mr.
6. M. Dempster, responded.
The trophies won during the carnival
were presented by Commodore Kymill.
