BARBED WIRE FENCING.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir— By-law 91 re barbed wire is eo stupidly
worded by the city fathers (save the mark)
that any person erecting a fence with barbed
wire before the by-law came into force need
not take the least notice of the terrible threat
of £10 fine. The by-law says you must not
erect or cause to be erected any fence with
barbed wire. Now, we all know that barbed
wire is very dangerous if it abuts on the
street, but if it ib inside the fence to protect
gardens and property, what right have the
city fathers to order a man to remove it? I
have a notice to remove some wire in .GiHes
ttreet, but the notice does not state what acre,
or on whose property. I enclose the notice
so that you can see that I am expected to
remove all the barbed wire along Gilles-street
from end to end. — I am. &c,
TH.OS. MOEONEY.
